The BeehiveOur web site is also linked to the Beehive web site operated by our local paper, the Courier. The Beehive is a very easy to operate community network which gives non-profit-making groups, societies and organisations a way of sharing common interests on the Internet for free. The network gives them the tools to build their own special site into which they can upload and maintain all manner of information about themselves. If you know nothing at all about web publishing, and don't have the time or inclination to learn, this is the ideal solution. There are comprehensive instructions, and you can set up a site very easily and quickly. The Beehive is not just a local facility, there are similar sites in other towns - perhaps this is just the opportunity you have been waiting for to get your organisation on the web. Courier Newspapers is part of Northcliffe Newspapers, the largest publishing company in the UK. They have a range of papers, from dailies to weeklies, located as far afield as the West Country to Scotland. The Beehive Community Network was launched in November 1999 in Derbyshire and Leicestershire. Both centres now have in excess of 150 members. The Kent and East Sussex Beehive was launched in March this year and aims to provide a comprehensive guide to organisations across our counties. The Courier supports the Beehive with weekly editorial pieces about the members and their activities. The Community Publishing staff are always on hand to answer questions and provide support. With the aid of a local college, they are also able to provide training sessions for how to create your site and best maintain your presence on the Internet.
